Taipei, July 18 (CNA) The ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) reshuffled the staff at its headquarters Thursday ahead of President Chen Shui-bian assuming the post of party chairman Sunday.

Chang Chun-hsiung, who has been designated as the new DPP secretary-general, said he has decided on the new line-up after extensive discussions with leading figures of major factions within the party.

"President Chen has approved the new roster," Chang said, adding that the selection was based on three principles: youth, professional expertise and close links with the legislative branch.
