The three-year-old dog is back with his owners and their two children after a weekend of desperate searching.
Devoted Simba had jumped into his owner Graham Elverstone's white Vauxhall Cavalier, when he left his home in Oadby to play snooker in the city centre on Friday night.
Graham left the dog in the car in Peacock Lane, Leicester, at about 9.30pm, but to his horror when he returned at about 11.30pm he found the car broken into and the dog gone.
