Equilibrium - Action/Sci-fi by Kurt Wimmer. In a futuristic world, a strict regime has eliminated war by suppressing human emotions. Art is strictly forbidden, and feeling is a crime punishable by death. A top-ranking government agent (Christian Bale), who is responsible for destroying those who resist the rules, once misses his daily dose of a mind-altering drug that hinders emotion and thus becomes the only person capable of overthrowing the system. Sean Vetter (Vin Diesel) and his partner Demetrius Hicks (Larenz Tate), members of the Drug Enforcement Administration, are fighting an ongoing drug war on the US-Mexican border. Being thugs who converted to cops, they use their street tactics to catch the leader, Diablo, of a notorious drug cartel. Based on the comic book of the same name, the movie begins in the 1940s as a Tibetan Buddhist monk, charged with protecting a mystical scroll, passes on his legacy to his pupil (Chow Yun-Fat).
