(From Nottingham Evening Post)
Reading your report headlined 'Parking Hit Squad' in the Post on July 18, pleased me immensely, it is about time that some sort of action is taken against illegal parking.
Drivers today do not bother about parking restrictions, as they know full well that the police will not take action against them, hence the parking in restricted areas, double and single yellow lines, and, most importantly, illegally on the pavements.
I sincerely hope that this purge is not just a one-off effort, but the hit squad should make surprise visits throughout the year.
I hope this same squad will come down hard on the drivers who illegally park in the designated disabled parking places, without the official 'disabled badge' showing.
I for one would like to see the hit squad actually inspecting disabled badges to ensure from the photo that use of the badge is not being abused.
Many a time I have gone to park in a disabled bay, only to find spaces taken up by cars not displaying the badge. I have had to park on double yellow lines instead.
