I felt so light and free while reading the Mothering article "Compassionate Connection" by Inbal Kashtan (January-February 2002). The connection with someone speaking about young children with such a consciousness was a wonderful feeling. The writing also contributed to this feeling, satisfying a desire for the beautiful simplicity of the Nonviolent Communication (NVC) process to be reflected in the style describing it.

Thank you so much for printing Inbal Kashtan's wonderful article on Marshall Rosenberg and NVC parenting. I feel very satisfied, encouraged, and excited to see the topic in a publication such as Mothering. When I think of all the families who may be touched by Nonviolent Communication, I am filled with joy and a deep sense of connection to the people who are seeking a different, gentler way to parent.

I have been implementing this method since my 2 year old was only 6 months, and it has had a tremendous impact on our family as well as on me personally. It's just amazing to watch her express empathy for and connect with her little friends, her favorite characters in books and videos, and of course with her daddy and me....
