Melissa Sokulski, author of "Breastfeeding Molly" (May-June 2002), is amazing. She is strong beyond belief; she is a hero; she is the pinnacle of what a mother should be. I cried my way through her article, partly from outrage at the absurd and malevolent "suggestions" from the medical staff treating her newborn daughter, partly out of sorrow for the challenges that befell this young, innocent soul, and partly out of awe and admiration for the power of a mother's love.
What scares me about her story is that I did not know anything about breastfeeding before my daughter Hannah was born; I am afraid that I would have listened to the doctors and not pressed so hard to nourish my baby myself. Bless Melissa for...
