Despite visible signs to the contrary, a spokeswoman for T-3 Group denied that the Milwaukee firm has closed its doors.
"We're not prepared to make any statement beyond that," said Nicole Miller of Mueller Communications.
However, the T-3 office, at 222 E. Erie St. in Milwaukee's Third Ward, was clearly not functional Thursday morning. There was nobody seated at the reception desk, a computer screen in the area was dark and phone lines were quiet.
A statement released Wednesday by Gary McHugh, T-3's president, indicated that the company is suffering from financial troubles.
"Senior management has been made aware of irregularities with financial and operational matters," the statement said.
The news came as no surprise to Peter Starck, vice president of Math Starck, Hales Corners, who said T-3's competitors have wondered for some time how the design/build company could stay afloat.
