Minsk, 31 October: Aleh Trusaw, a prominent Belarusian historian, archaeologist and politician, was re-elected as chairman of the Frantsysk Skaryna Belarusian Language Society (BLS) on 30 October.

Trusaw was unanimously re-elected for a fourth two-year term at the BLS' ninth convention held in Minsk on Sunday [30 October].

The organization adopted six appeals and a resolution at the convention.

In particular, the BLS suggested that the Belarusian language should be broadly used by presidential contenders in the run-up to the 2006 …
