Section: General News - Protesting farmers Friday dispersed their rally in front of Government House after Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra met them and promised to look into their demands, The Nation reports.
"Farmers will return to Government House if the prime minister fails to chair a meeting on farm grievances on Tuesday as he promised," protest organiser Chusri Ngamsangiam said.
Thaksin pledged to chair the meeting of Farmers Development and Rehabilitation Fund in order to resolve farm debt. The fund is a key mechanism to address the plight of farmers.
