Okano Masayuki, 72 years old, was born in Higashi-Mukojima, in the eastern part of Tokyo, as the son of a die-maker. Thirty-three years ago, he succeeded his father's business and has always worked in the little factory in his own household. With his wife Yuki, his son-in-law Enmoto Kozo and three other craftsmen, the tiny firm became regarded as a champion in the metal processing sector in Japan. Okano Kogyo attracts a number of major high-tech manufacturers as well as NASA, while Okano is busy accepting requests for lectures and articles. Achieving Independence ...
