Trading terminals are not wide spread

The presence of 22 regional exchanges acted as a catalyst to spread the equity culture. After the introduction of electronic trading on NSE and the BSE, trading volumes at the regional exchanges have become negligible. These exchanges then registered as members of BSE and NSE, which ensured that investors' interest and appetite for equity remain sustained. An analysis of the presence of BSE and NSE members indicates that their trading terminals are concentrated in 14-15 states; this has a direct bearing on the demand for demat services.
