Oct. 31--As public schools in Broward and Miami-Dade delayed their post-Wilma reopening, parents including Michele Margulies scrambled to find places to leave their children during work hours.
"You do one day, two days, three days, but now we're going into the second week and what do we do with our kids?" said Margulies of Davie, who works for a cosmetics firm. "The stress level is so intense, so maddening. It's unthinkable that we're going through this and also having to deal with no electricity."
With Miami-Dade schools closed through Tuesday and Broward schools not expected to reopen before Thursday, Margulies is leaving her 10-year-old daughter, Jessica, at the house of friend Randi Lazarus in Weston. The Lazaruses have power -- and a housekeeper.
