S. KOREA'S HANKOOK TIRE TO BUILD PLANT IN HUNGARY
SEOUL - Hankook Tire Co. (KSE:00240), South Korea's largest tire manufacturer, agreed Monday with Hungary to build a production plant in the East European country with the aim of mass-producing automobile tires there starting in 2007.
Hankook Tire said it will invest 500 million euros (US$602 million) to build the factory in Dunauivaros, about 68 kilometers south of Budapest, Hungary's capital. The plant is projected to have annual production capacity of 5 million tires, the tire maker said in a ceremony marking the sealing of the agreement.
