SEOUL, Nov 1 Asia Pulse - U.S.-based International School Services (ISS), one of the world's leading providers of educational services for expatriate communities, was selected to establish and run international schools in a city west of Seoul, South Korea's Finance Ministry said Tuesday.
According to the ministry, the New Songdo City Development LLC (NSC), the developer of Songdo International City, has signed a memorandum of understanding with the ISS to open international schools by September 2008.
Songdo International City, near Incheon, is part of the Incheon Free Economic Zone that South Korea is seeking to turn into a business hub in Northeast Asia. Incheon is a port city about 40 kilometers west of the South Korean capital.
The schools will accommodate about 2,100 preschool, elementary, middle and high school students, according to the ministry.
