TEHRAN, Nov 1 Asia Pulse - The managing director of Iran's National Petrochemical Company (NPC) said here Saturday that over US$70 million of polymers have been exported since the beginning of the current Year (started March 21).
Mohammad Ehtiat said that the figure is expected to rise significantly next year due to several projects coming on stream next year.
By the end of the Fourth Five-Year Development Plan (March (2005-2010), the target is to produce 1.1 million tons of various kinds of polymers valued at US$6 billion, of which US$4 billion is slated to be exported, Ehtiat added.
He said that the company has signed multiple long-term contracts with different reputable companies around the world to produce six million tons of various polymers including PE, PP, PET.
Also, Polymer output will exceed nine million tons in the next four years from more than 1,360,000 tons in the 2004-05 fiscal, hence turning Iran into hub of polymer production in the Middle East, he added.
