CANBERRA, Nov 1 Asia Pulse - Telstra (ASX:TLS) will breach its operating licence if it shuts down its digital mobile phone network, Australian Communications Minister Helen Coonan says.
Telstra was reported earlier last month to be considering closing down the network so that it could replace it with a new high-tech third generation (3G) mobile service.
The telco giant has insisted that it has not decided whether to change its current mobile services.
But Senator Coonan told a Senate committee Monday that Telstra would breach its operating licence conditions if it dumped its digital mobile service, or CDMA network.
