ACCORDING TO THE Film Australia website, the federal government has granted them $8.5 million to make history films. Their first response was to import the producer from the BBC responsible for Simon Schama's History of Britain series. Reportedly--it was an in-house seminar for Film Australia staff--the speaker concentrated on how the sort of program is made that combines visits to historical sites with re-enactments illustrating script by a learned and hopefully engaging authority.
