SIR: The article "Harold Holt and the Beautiful People" by Max Teichmann (September 2005) contains two glaring misquotations from my new book The Life and Death of Harold Holt.

First, I did not describe Harold Holt as "the real Whitlamite". This description of Australia's seventeenth prime minister appeared in the title of an article I published in the Australian on August 5 and was added by a sub-editor. This was not the title I provided.
