These are some of the obvious costs of recovering from a hurricane.
But less apparent expenses can also take a bite out of your wallet, if you don't pay close attention to what's arriving in your mailbox in the weeks after Wilma: your utility bills.
If you're wondering whether you'll have to pay for all the power, phone and cable you couldn't use during the storm, it would be smart to remember this golden rule: Do not pay for service you did not get.
The word from most companies surveyed by The Herald last week regarding their official credit or rebate policy was largely uniform: They're handling it on a case-by-case basis.
