Oct. 29--Some 2,000 Broward lift stations -- the pumps that make sewage flow away from people's homes -- were out of power Friday, leaving a stinky, brown liquid bubbling up from manholes and storm drains in some neighborhoods.
In Plantation's Fountain Springs neighborhood, neighbors gathered the muck into buckets until the city sent help later in the day.
