Oct. 29--For Broward residents, it takes a village to help file insurance claims.
A dozen home- and car-insurance companies have set up makeshift offices out of RVs at a Plantation parking lot on West Sunrise Boulevard.
Since Thursday, the insurers have helped about 1,000 storm victims start filing insurance claims, said Bob Lotane, spokesman for the state's Department of Financial Services, which organized the "insurance village."
