Apparently, even on the eve of the season, not everyone felt in shape to go.
So the Milwaukee Bucks reached for new heights, the Hornets apparently accepted new lows and the Bulls mulled a season of coming up short.
First Milwaukee.
On Monday, the Bucks were talking about being Phoenix East (OK, Midwest) when coach Terry Stotts addressed the possibility of a small-ball lineup featuring T.J. Ford and Michael Redd at guard and Desmond Mason and Bobby Simmons at forward.
"I loved the way Phoenix played," Stotts said. "Last year, they had a unique style. But if T.J. can do some of the things that Steve Nash did last year, or Jason Kidd or Baron Davis, if he's able to push it and get guys opportunities for open shots, I think we have enough good shooters."
Two days later, the Bucks dealt Mason to the Hornets for center Jamaal Magloire.
