FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. _ The great Juan Marichal was speaking with reporters on the field at Minute Maid Park last week as part of the Latino Legends project when suddenly someone tapped him on the shoulder.
It was White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen, who threw a big hug around the Dominican pitching legend and thanked him in Spanish for all he'd done.
Marichal, 68, was nothing but complimentary of Guillen as well.
"He deserves what he's doing," Marichal said. "He was a great player, and now I think he's going to be a great, great manager."
Even through Guillen is from Venezuela, he is knocking down doors for all prospective managers of Latin American descent.
"I think so," said Marichal, the Hall of Fame right-hander. "I like his style. He lets his players play the game....
