Section: Regional News - The US Health Secretary spoke highly of Vietnam's efforts and experiences in combating bird flu, while his Canadian counterpart pledged continued help to the country.

The two officials was speaking at the closing session of a two-day health conference in Ottawa on Oct. 25 that drew of Health Ministers from around the world to discuss preparations against a bird flu pandemic.

The Canadian Health Minister said his country will help Vietnam and other Asian nations increase their capacity in preventing and controlling newly emerging diseases through a project worth 15 million Canadian dollars.
