The world is likely to experience stronger typhoons due to severe, human-induced climate change.

And with limited means to address environmental degradation, poor countries like the Philippines are likely to suffer the most.

"We're really in quite a serious trouble. There is no evidence we're getting on top of global or national environmental challenges right now," said Jeffrey D. Sachs, director of the United Nations' Millennium Development Project.
