Oct. 28--In a move that will mark the end of one of South Florida's largest companies, shareholders overwhelmingly approved Teva Pharmaceutical Industries's acquisition of IVAX, the 18-year-old Miami drug maker.
More than 98 percent of the shares of the two companies were voted in approval of the deal, the companies said.
The sale must still must clear some regulatory hurdles in Europe and the United States. The transaction is expected to close late this year or early 2006.
