Oct. 28--The employee discounts carmakers extended to consumers spurred a 40 percent increase in Fort Lauderdale-based AutoNation's bottom line in the latest quarter.
The nation's largest automotive retailer posted third-quarter net income of $129.3 million, or 48 cents a share, including 3 cents a share from discontinued operations, up from $92.4 million, or 34 cents a share a year earlier.
