Supreme Court: It's too much to pretend that the past three weeks just didn't happen. But President Bush and his critics need to put the Harriet Miers episode behind them. They have a job to do -- together.
That job is to appoint people to the Supreme Court who will apply the law, not rewrite it. We'll probably never know if Miers would have been such a justice. Little is known of her views beyond a sketchy, confusing paper trail that largely went cold about a dozen years ago.
