HOUSTON -- Part of the answer to what the "new" New Orleans will look like might emerge from an international design competition aimed at identifying new housing prototypes for New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. The contest will be sponsored by the Tulane University School of Architecture and Architectural Record magazine, the leading trade publication of the architectural world.
The contest will be announced in the December issue of Architectural Record. The deadline for submitting design proposals will be March.
"We're focusing just on residential because those are the structures that received the most damage from the storm," said Reed Kroloff, dean of Tulane's School of Architecture.
