Remember the FOX sitcom from the early 1990s called Herman's Head, in which the lead character continually heard voices of conscience arguing inside him?
That's how I've felt since NASCAR revealed plans for capping ownership in the Nextel Cup Series.
Happy voice: "Limiting the size of teams will help owners such as Cal Wells, Beth Ann Morgenthau and Wood Brothers and any future entrepreneur looking to break in at the Cup level."
Determined voice: "Jack Roush has put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into building his uberoperation, and he deserves to reap the rewards with his five-car organization."
Older voice: "There's power in numbers, and that threatens to fracture the very foundation NASCAR has thrived on for more than 55 years."
Disgusted voice: "Wealth should be more evenly distributed among the owners. That's what was promised after the first major TV negotiations in 2000, but it hasn't happened."
Angry voice: "This is just a knee-jerk reaction to Roush's success."
