Among those lucky enough to enjoy undiminished esteem have been Tony Gwynn, Cal Ripken, Rod Carew, Nolan Ryan, Tom Seaver, Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, Roberto Clemente, Mickey Mantle, Stan Musial, Ted Williams, Bob Feller and Joe DiMaggio, to name some of the finest players of the last seven decades.
