MANATEE COUNTY -- Mills Elementary School is so full that classes are held in a teacher planning room, the media center and a tech lab.
Yet every week new children arrive at the district's only elementary school in the rapidly growing northeast corner of the county. Hundreds more children are expected to move to the area next year, but a new school won't open nearby until August 2007.
To help ease the crowding, crews recently moved eight portables onto the campus, and the district expects to build a 10-classroom wing soon.
