THE LAST WAVE 
 
   1990, the final mob of mates 
   guys who went to World War One 
   were hitting the wards and dying 
 
   they were all high nineties 
   but had enlisted at 15, 16. Norm 
   who dreamt of bombing Frankston 
 
   even more demented Bob 
   slumped, standing in the corridor 
   but erect, in his photo near the King 
 
   and the last one I remember, Bill 
   his pension-aged son told us 
   he was tossed to one side at the Somme ...
