The biggest challenge for the off-licence sector when it comes to tobacco products is the increased pressure from competing sectors such as forecourts and convenience stores, according to the UK's leading tobacco producers.
'Off-licences need to develop the core categories on the basis that forecourts have done, says Imperial's UK spokesman Iain Watkins. 'They need to adapt to the trends of modern shoppers. They have the expertise and good locations but some stores are on the small side and awkward to develop.
