Oct. 25--The founders of Hotels.com want to send you a check in the mail.
Dave Litman and Bob Diener stopped running the Dallas-based travel-reservations company in 2003 when InterActiveCorp. bought its outstanding shares. Now they've started Consumer Club Inc., which offers discounts to consumers for online shopping and dining.
Through ConsumerClub.com, which officially launches today, customers can get rebate checks in the mail when they purchase from the site's affiliated retailers, including Amazon.com Inc. and Gap Inc.
Many other sites offer such deals, taking the discounts they get through online retailers' affiliate programs and passing part of the money on to consumers. But Mr. Litman and Mr. Diener believe those businesses haven't built the kind of mass audience they're capable...
