Dundee and Perthshire's close connections with Lord Nelson's momentous victory at Trafalgar were marked across the region yesterday.

Scone Palace near Perth hosted a Trafalgar weekend breakfast for invited guests, marking the 200th anniversary of the battle while, at the former home of Nelson's mentor in Dundee, the city's lord provost planted a tree.

The 25 guests at Scone Palace were treated to a traditional Scottish breakfast supplied by Perthshire Farmers Market, washed down with champagne and specially created Nelson liqueurs, in the palace's state dining room.
