Wellington, Oct 21 NZPA - Wairarapa/Martinborough wines have taken the quinella for New Zealand's best pinot noirs.

Larry McKenna's Escarpment Winery's 2004 vintage beat Ata Rangi Pinot Noir 2004 for the top place.

The win came after New Zealand's premiere annual national pinot noir consumer tasting in Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland between October 11-14 showcasing ninety-five Pinot Noir from wine regions around the country.
