Member economies of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) are adopting a consolidated position on trade liberalization to help attain success in the World Trade Organization (WTO) ministerial meetings in Hong Kong in December.

Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Economic Relations Edsel T. Custodio told reporters the APEC economies, which represent more than 50% of total world trade, play an important role in the progress of the trade talks.
