Because of insufficient oversight by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, states may not be getting price breaks they are entitled to from drugmakers under the Medicaid prescription drug rebate program, established by Congress in 1990.
That's the conclusion of the Government Accountability Office. In a March 7 report, GAO urges CMS to issue clear guidance on how pharmaceutical companies should comply with the program, and to update that guidance as needed to stay relevant to changing practices...
