TED DAVID, CNBC ANCHOR: Ford posted a quarterly loss today for the first time since the fourth quarter of 2003. Ex out some items, the loss of 10 cents was in line with analyst estimates. Ford shares right now, let`s take a look, are currently trading on the day down 4 cents at $8.43. What`s ahead for Ford and the embattled auto industry? Chief financial officer Don Leclair joins us now from Ford headquarters in Dearborn.

DAVID: Let`s talk numbers first. Ex special items, you posted a loss of 10 cents. Morgan Stanley points out losses for Ford`s North American auto and premier auto group were worse than forecast, although total financial services pretax profits were better than expected. Where was the weakness especially noticeable? And if you would break down for us all of that in terms of units and geography.
