Oct. 19--FAO's new boss Edward Schmults plays in the 5th Ave. store... --> ...taking his turn at the keyboard made famous by Tom Hanks in the movie 'Big." --> Running a toy store may seem like a dream job, but Edward Schmults, retail icon FAO Schwarz' CEO, is discovering it's not all fun and games.
Standing on the store's second floor last week near a doll display, Schmults looked anxious as a little girl, spooked after losing sight of her mother, started to wail.
"I don't like to see that. Obviously, I'm sensitive to it as a new dad," said Schmults, the father of a 10-month-old girl. "But in this store, kids should be happy."
