State regulators, who slashed a Nevada Power Co. energy rate case by almost one-half billion dollars two years ago, on Wednesday gave the company a way to avoid that outcome in the future.
The Public Utilities Commission voted 3-0 to allow Nevada Power of Las Vegas and Sierra Pacific Power Co., its affiliate in Reno, to get preapproval on electric power purchase contracts of less than three years.
