ANAHEIM, Calif. _ Forty-six years of frustration melted beneath a cool October rain for Chicago's Other Team here Sunday night.

Forty-six years as an afterthought, a punch line, a baseball bobo all went flying out of sight along with the champagne corks being popped in the winning clubhouse.

Forty-six years littered with painful memories of Disco Demolition and Harry Caray's defection, Albert Belle's signing and Tom Gamboa's beating, all disappeared beneath a seasonlong run of sustained excellence and a grinder's sensibility.

The Chicago White Sox are back in the World Series. Finally.

Sunday's 6-3 win over the Los Angeles Angels made that a reality as the White Sox took this American League Championship Series in five quick games.
