Oct. 9--For senior citizens and others covered by Medicare in Indiana, let the decision-making begin.

But be forewarned: This won't be simple.

People covered by Medicare can choose from dozens of plans that are all part of the federal program's new prescription drug benefit, which begins Jan. 1. The benefit -- referred to as Part D of Medicare coverage -- is designed to help pay for a portion of seniors' drug costs.

The plans come in varying shapes and sizes, with monthly premiums ranging from $12.30 to more than $70 for stand-alone drug plans. Some plans have reduced or no deductibles or options for lower payments if…
