Oct. 9--OCALA, Fla. -- Months ago, Ocala's downtown redevelopment project could easily be compared to an orchestra, with one conductor ready to lead the show.

Now, with the idea of having one developer oversee the entire project apparently a thing of the past, the initiative seems to be taking the shape of a rock concert, with different bands working together to put on a show.

By opening the project to different builders, developers and architects, the city has changed the playing field and faces the challenge of having to coordinate multiple companies potentially working on a number of projects within the redevelopment area.

The task, according to at least one local developer, will be difficult and could affect the overall quality of the final product....
