1 Hays, Kan.-based Black Diamond Oil Inc. staked a wildcat on the northwestern end of the Central Kansas Uplift in southern Norton County, Kan. The #1 Schick, in Section 22-4s-22w, approximately 4.5 miles north and slightly east of the town of Edmond, is set to reach 3,700 ft. to evaluate formations through the Arbuckle. The nearest production is about one to 1.5 miles south in Hansen Estate Northwest Field. Two noncommercial wells in that field produced about 5,200 bbl. of oil from Arbuckle before being abandoned in the early 1990s.
2 Falcon Exploration Inc., Wichita, Kan., reported first production from the #1 Decker, in Section 12-31s-22w in the eastern part of the Hugoton Embayment about 12 miles northeast of Ashland, Kan., in northeastern Clark County. The 6,549-ft. discovery recovered 127 bbl. of oil in February and 5,261 bbl. of oil with an average of 170 bbl. daily in March, according to IHS Energy. While details were filed confidential with the state, it was reported at the time of its completion that it was producing from the Viola. The well is about a mile from three fields, including Granger Creek Field northeast. The 10-well pool in that field has produced 796,000 bbl. of oil with 1.53 billion cu. ft. of gas from the Morrow and the Mississippian through perforations between 5,100 and 5,200 ft.
3 Fort Smith, Ark.-based Stephens Production Co. completed a southern Franklin County, Ark., well in Aetna Field almost three miles west-southwest of the town of Denning. The #11-36 Homer Hilliard, in Section 36-9n-27w, flowed gas at an aggregate rate of 10.4 million cu. ft. daily....
