Kory Ellis is one of the few GNC regulars who call California home. In fact, all throughout the late '90s he was one of a handful of racers who made the trek from the West Coast back East to race the GNCs. These were the days before nationals in Texas or California when the series called the East its exclusive home.

Ellis is still in California, but now he gets to call the Glen Helen MX National his home race. He won the Glen Helen race in 2004. Ellis has had some great individual moto finishes this year, but inconsistency has kept him off the podium more. His best finishes have been at Red Bud, Muddy Creek and Unadilla; all were third-place finishes. And, after the last round of the season, Ellis ended up just missing out on cracking the top five in the championship standings.
