Many devoted dune riding enthusiasts simply ride for the fun of it. Others, however, become addicted and have the trickest-looking ATVs one will ever see. It's a great lifestyle, but it can be frustrating to set up an ATV for sand riding. Unlike racing, there isn't a factory pro sand rider out in the dunes to ask about setting up for dune riding. Sure, there's a lot of experienced riders in the dunes, but to whom do you listen?
One of the toughest things to set up in any type of ATV riding is suspension. A lot of suspension setup is personal preference. With the advent of better stock suspensions, riders can tune their ATV's suspension better than ever, but there is always a need for even more. We went to Glamis with two sets of Elka Dune Edition suspensions for both a TRX450R and YFZ450. We wanted to check the shocks out and give them a honest evaluation. And what better place to test dune-specific shocks than Glamis?
