Cocoa found to benefit smokers: study TV Parasuram Washington, Oct 2 (PTI) By boosting cardiovascular health, cocoa can have beneficial effects on smokers, a study by the American College of Cardiology has found.
Enhancing levels of nitric oxide in the blood of smokers, cocoa can reverse smoking-related impairment of blood vessel function, Washington Times said in its report.
"Cocoa," said cardiologist Malte Keim, who conducted the study in conjunction with the University of California at San Francisco and Germany's Heinrich-Heine University, "can significantly improve an important marker of cardiovascular health in a population with an established cardiovascular risk factor."
