MNCs using lies and lures to sell GM cotton: Greenpeace Subhra Priyadarshini Kolkata, Sep 30 (PTI) Following a not-so-successful stint of genetically modified (GM) cotton strains on Indian soil, international environment group Greenpeace has picked up cudgels against a few multi-nationals, which, it says have "lied and lured" Indian farmers into growing untested seeds.

Greenpeace has brought out a 'practical guide' for farmers that provides tips on how to sue a multi-national company selling Bt Cotton seeds that do not match their tall pre-harvest promises.

"The multi-nationals have been using every trick in the book to promote genetically modified cotton seeds. Though they claim that farmers have accepted the technology, our in depth study across the country has a different story to tell," Greenpeace campaign director in India Shailendra Yashwant told PTI....
